Logistics
Travel
Alaska Airlines has 4 non-stop flights per day from Seattle to Juneau, and is currently the only airline serving Juneau that time of year. We will assist in providing taxi service for our Chinese colleagues to get from the Juneau airport to downtown. US researchers will be expected to pay for their own transportation via taxi or public transport to get downtown.
Conference center
The workshop will be located at the Centennial Hall in downtown Juneau, Alaska.
dinner: pre-booked, buffet style at several different restaurants in downtown Juneau
Excursions
Mendenhall Glacier is located near the Juneau townsite. We will go to the visitor center and do an optional hike to the waterfall near the glacier on Thursday morning.
Click here for a map for the hikes near the glacier. The hike we plan to do is about 3.2 km (1 hour).
What to bring
Juneau receives a considerable amount of rain! Waterproof clothing will be essential if you plan to do any hiking.
bring comfortable footwear if you plan to do the Mendenhall hike. The terrain is flat and consists of a gravel trail.
